Internal Links That Help Readers: A Small Business Guide

An internal link is useful when it answers the reader’s next likely question. It should feel like a handrail, not an interruption. A guide about a broken WordPress site can point to a rescue service; a service page can point to a guide that explains how to prepare.

Link from context

Use descriptive words that tell a reader what they will find. Put the link near the relevant explanation, and avoid adding several links to the same destination in one short section. Navigation, related content, and one clear call to action are usually enough.

Review the path

Click every important link on a phone. Remove links that lead to outdated pages, duplicate destinations, or an abrupt sales pitch. Check that no page becomes an orphan with no route from the rest of the site.

Good architecture supports both people and crawling. It is one part of a broader technical SEO review.
