Website Redesign or a New Website? How to Decide

A website can feel dated without being fundamentally broken. It can also look polished while making it difficult for the right people to understand your offer. The decision is less about age and more about what is getting in the way of trust, enquiries, and day-to-day updates.

Start with the problem

List the symptoms before choosing a solution. A messaging problem may need clearer copy and a better page structure. A technical problem may need a rebuild, especially if the theme is unsupported or the editor is difficult to use. A conversion problem may be solved with a sharper service page and simpler enquiry path.

When a redesign is enough

Keep the foundation when the content model, hosting, and integrations are healthy. Refreshing the visual system, navigation, page hierarchy, and calls to action can create a meaningful improvement without moving every part at once.

When rebuilding is wiser

Consider a new build when the current site is slow, fragile, impossible to update safely, or held together by workarounds. Talk through a website scope that starts with the business constraint, not a list of trendy features.
